Biography

Dia came from two parents who were abused and forced to over breed. She spent her first 6 weeks in a old pig pen covered in mud and ticks and fleas, along with all of her litter mates and the other litters. When she was adopted she had kennel cough and would shake all the time. She also had worms. Her first owner abused her instead of loving her and caring for her. Instead of any training or socializing she was taught how cruel humans could be. Now as a result she is reactive, through training and socializing she has become a little bit calmer instead of anxious, but she will always be reactive because of the abuse. When she would go to the bathroom on the floor because her old owner never took her out he would beat her, as a young puppy she had a huge baseball sized lump on her forehead as a result of the abuse he subjected her to. As well as being hit and kicked and thrown and pushed. (Her old owner was my boyfriends roomate, and we were unaware of the abuse until the lump on her head. Afterwards her old owner moved out of the house and my boyfriend took her from him after paying him 400$. But he already had two dogs, and worked full time, so he had no time to train her, only time to feed her and treat her worms. He knew he wasn’t able to take care of her properly so he was going to turn her in to the local shelter, but before he could I decided to take her home, much to my fathers disapproval. (Now she has him wrapped around her little paws) She went straight to the vet and got all her treatments, shots, and got spayed immediately so she would never have to be in the same place as her mother, even once. As a first time dog owner who wasn’t well educated on her breeds or how to handle reactivity, the first 6 months of her home were not easy, but I knew I would never let her be given up on or let down again by humans, I educated myself, and got in contact with trainers to help me learn. I watched as love, and care changed the defeated look in her eyes to a happy healthy baby. And now she has her own home, with her family who loves her to bits. She spends her days snoozing and cuddling with her family and mom, hogging the bed, and sleeping with all her blankets, she has more toys then I can even count, she has so many fields and trails all around her that she gets to free run on whenever we can. And she loves swimming, She has two brothers and a sister who she loves to play with, and she even learned to get along with the kitty. She gets spoiled rotten everyday with treats, and toys, and she is the best cuddler there ever was. My sweet dia girl completes our family and she’s my best friend.
