Coco
Biography
My son saved Coco on the I - 5 outside of LA running frantically in traffic. After almost getting hit by a box truck she ran across many lanes to the other direction of traffic. My son drove across the turn around ( I assume cops use). She had run across all lanes of traffic and was by the cement wall. My son pulled in front of her at an angle to close the gap in front. He got out went around the back of his suburban. She went underneath he grabbed her back leg got her out from under his vehicle. Put her in his suburban. Then went around to the drivers side got in. I was staying with my husband who was in the hospital. My other son was staying with my chihuahua Pookie. So my son took the dog to a vet no chip and the vet gave her a look over. I said to my son don't leave that dog alone with Pookie. Apparently that ship had sailed. I looked from Mexico to Canada along the I-5, no one claimed her. I contacted a bully breed rescue as I lived in a Studio apartment and didn't want a large dog. I tried hard not to love her. When the rescue had a foster space open up there was no way she was going anywhere she was home. The vet said she was around 4 to 6 months old. Strangely Pookie.trained Coco in a lot of what we do and don't do. I always walked Pook in the open desert across the street. She would never leave my side. Then when Coco joined our off leash walks she began to venture a little bit farther. Coco had good recall and ran all over. One day she kicked up a jackrabbit and the chase was on. I knew this was the real test. I called "Coco come". She was running full speed and began to turn in a full speed run arc back to me. She came and sat in front of me slober on her face, tongue hanging out ,panting. I praised her. She is a great dog.
